How To Make Your Website Live
For when you want to make your new site go public.
Last Update 3 个月前
Congratulations, you are now ready to show off your new site to the world.
This is the technical part, but it's very doable. Please follow the directions carefully. It's important you do not change the order.
To launch your new website, there are two options:
1. Try It Yourself
To take your site live in just a few clicks, you will want to gain access to your DNS Zone records.
You can do this by logging in to your domain registrar (GoDaddy, BlueHost, Network Solutions, eNom, etc) and adjust the following 2 records:
- Using myclinicsite.ca as an example: A record set up from myclinicsite.ca to 220.127.116.11
- Now set the CNAME record to loadbalancer.clinicsites.co
Here's a tutorial from one of the most popular domain providers, Go Daddy. Learn to change your records here.
2. Get Someone Else To Do It For You
If you need help updating your DNS records, call your Domain Host (GoDaddy, BlueHost, etc) and ask their customer service team to help you go through it.
Here's your script you can say with them (even if you're not sure, they'll know what you're talking about):
I would like some help changing the DNS records for my domain (say your URL here). Please change A record to 18.104.22.168.
Next, I'd like my CNAME record set to loadbalancer.clinicsites.co.
That's it. Once that is done, move on to the final step. It's much easier.
Now Go Over To Your Clinic Sites Staging Site Link You've Been Using To Build Your New Site
You'll need to add your domain to your site settings and set it as the primary domain.
1. Go to Admin, click on Settings
2. Select Domain in the left side menu
3. Click 'Add domain' to add your domain(s) (can add multiple domains)
4.After the DNS changes have fully propagated, click the more button (•••) to the right of your domain, click Make Primary.
Note: DNS changes can take anywhere from a few minutes to a few days to fully propagate. Before setting your domain as the primary, test your domain to see if it redirects to your staging domain. Once it successfully directs to your new site, update the primary domain.
Congratulations, your site will be launched after that final step!
Don't have a domain?
To launch your site you will need a domain. If you do not yet have a domain please register a domain through a 3rd party such as Hover or GoDaddy (or other domain provider of choice).
Not sure where your domain is registered?
If you're unsure where your domain is registered you can using one of the following tools to determine where it is registered:
More often than not using these tools will allow you to find where the domain is registered and sometimes even who has registered it (whois.net). Please note that sometimes this information is not available. You may need to contact your current website provider to find out if they can assist.
Is your domain currently managed by current web host?
If your current web host requires you to pay for hosting if you keep your domain and manage your DNS with them, you will likely need to create a Hover or GoDaddy (or other domain provider of choice) account and transfer the domain there. Check with your provider for more details.
